I connect with this on SO many levels. I am a big fan of Victoria Williams, who was the center of the first Sweet Relief album. Chesnutt was the center of the second Sweet Relief album. Both are brilliant.
Also, I feel like Chesnutt channels Steve Forbert, another unappreciated artist who was treated quite poorly by the music industry. For folks new to Forbert, check out Romeo's Tune (it's on iTunes), one of my faves and his most commercially successful song.
