Remember my story about the lost dog that we sheltered for a weekend? Same thing almost happened again. I was hanging with Nich outside, in our driveway, when the neighbors across the street motioned me over. Turns out that they found a stray, and had every intention of taking responsibility for it, except they were about to head out of town for the next two weeks. So of course I say "That's ok, I'll take over." So they gave me a rope leash and I walked it back to our house, where I asked my son to get my wife, Leslie.
Thank G-d for Leslie.
She came out of the house, took one look at the dog and said, "I know where he lives." Yay! So we walked down the block a few houses and knocked on the door of our neighbor, who acted a bit surprised, then realized that he had trouble with a gate, and that's how the dog got out. Doggie was happy to be home, and we strolled back home ourselves, me much lighter, almost floating, so relieved to not have to deal with babysitting a stray for the weekend. Whew!

Christmas - the lights, the music, Santa ...

Awesome, always nice to hear about doggies being returned to their homes. Just have to hope that fellow gets his gate fixed.
Well, I guess that makes you two for two, huh?
At the end of this life, I hope to have batted 1.000 when it comes to helping out the critters of the world. If you're not equipped to help yourself out in this world, consider yourself my friend.
Yay! Happy endings are always best.
I had an idea: Leslie and I will walk around our neighborhood with a camera, asking to take pictures of the resident pooches. Then we write down the address and create a database, so that the next dog that gets loose can be identified in our database and be brought home.
