Turns out my dryer tech is from the country of Georgia, and that his parents still live there, near the border of South Ossetia. He said that while they were safe, they did see Soviet Russian tanks go by.
We talked about Putin and what a bad guy he is. We discussed his KGB past and how the KGB still functions and still teaches what the know to the younger generation, passing down the political construct of rule by fear.
Again, I hope the Russian economy picks up in a manner conducive the empowerment of the citizenry. Those people definitely need to take the power back.

Wow, given how much you're following the situation in Georgia, how crazy it is that the one drier technician that you get ends up being from there?
This world works very interestingly. I believe that things happen for reasons not coincidences. You were meant to meet up with this gentleman.
I hope that his parents are ok. Perhaps you can follow up with him in the future and let us know.
Oh, and does the drier work now?
I enjoyed your Soviet/Russian graphic aid there. Very nice!
