After a heavy week, my wife likes her rocks. So we headed out on a beautiful Sunday to scenic Acton, California, to hunt us up some rocks. As I am not a geologist in any way, Leslie was the tour guide. We saw rose quartz and basalt and breccia and shale and granite and lots of regular quartz. We may have also scored a bit of hematite.
I learned about the area the same way the original Apollo astronauts learned, by hanging out with a bigger brain. And, dig it, she's my wife. Nice.

"scored a bit of hematite"
Love the phrasing. Sounds like you smoked it.
(If you did, and it was righteous hematite, could you send some my way?)
