One of my best friends was in town this week. During the day he is in training sessions, and at night he cruises by and we hang out. It's good to see him, it's been years, and he's a great guy, a tremendous individual.
Last night we drove to the Lunada Bay overlook, where we saw The Black Pearl! I didn't have my camera, as it is with Leslie, in Kowloon. My buddy had his, and he got some shots, which was cool for him, so Yay. It was pretty awesome watching it as it rolled on by. The sails were down, so I assume there's some engine-apparatus that makes it go. Regardless, it was pretty cool. Definitely another benefit to living in Los Angeles County.
After the brief excitement, we decided to celebrate with a serious bean-feast. So we headed to Whole Foods, thanks to the trusty navigation provided by my beloved TomTom. There we picked up some filet mignon cuts, some potatoes, some hummus, some pane bigio, some mushrooms, and an onion.
Everything came together, despite the obvious dangers of two large-sized men in a medium-sized kitchen. I cooked the steaks, based on the Palm recipe that I use (ask me for it). He cooked the potatoes, diced and pan-fried. Mushrooms and onions went on the filets, potatoes in bowls, and the eating began. It was the finest meal I've had in many a moon. I miss my wife tremendously, but this eased the pain quite a bit.
Keep your friends, as they are your riches.

My coworker was just telling us this morning that her children got to meet Johnny Depp and his stunt double as well as see the Black Pearl. I always miss out on the cool happenings!

As Garcin said in Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit, "Hell is other people."
