Entertaining and enlightening!
The bit about beating the heat by going to Ralphs reminds me of an episode of Married with Children where the Bundy's lounged about the local supermarket and executed a series of ploys and outright lies to extend their stay in the coolness there.
Also, I've been thinking about taking some of my little stories and recording them. I can do a decent impression of a narrator when pressed and I think it'd be fun too :-)
