Friendship. Absolutely one of my favorite words. To me, the word "friendship" resonates through me the way the word "home" does.
I am sitting here in the library listening to a record that a friend gave me. Now, it's not that he gave me a gift that makes it worth mentioning. It is the exact nature of the record that has me so fulfilled. The record in question is a CD titled "ZenHouse" by Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane (with percussion by apt. Q-258). This music is so absolutely perfect for me, and my friend knew this before he got it for me. And that is the nature of it. Friendship is the giving of your time to another person. To invest a most precious commodity (the most precious) into another person with no regard for a return of said investment. Think about it, when you give your time to a friend, do you get that time back? No, it's gone forever. And yet, at least for me, the reward is so fantastic, the feeling of soulfulness that I receive when I am acting purely for another, with no thought for myself. That feeling is like the glow after a good schvitz.
Thanks to every one of you who allows me to be your friend. Your friendship is like the greatest room service at the finest hotel in the world.
