Not only did we (the Democrats) take back the House, but it looks pretty certain that we have taken back the Senate.
It's time to bring our troops home from Iraq. Today.
There's no reason to keep them there another day. Another day won't make a difference. We won't win, as we won't be able to maintain a peace between the Shia and Sunni factions. This is their land to fight over. This is an Iraqi dispute. Leave it to them, today. Let's just turn around and go home.
Please, call your representatives today and demand that we withdraw from Iraq immediately. That is how you can best support our troops.
If you've read this far and are unconvinced, read this April 18th 2006 opinion from The Cato Institute.
If you're still unconvinced, read the words of former CIA director John Deutch, from July 15th of last year.
Obviously there's more where that came from, and I'll continue to defend my position in the upcoming days. For now, if you still think that there is a benefit to our remaining in Iraq, please say why in the comments.

Yes, well here's where we get to see if it makes any difference who is in control of either house of Congress, Stu. I certainly hope there will be a complete cessation in Iraq, but I wouldn't count on it. That's why (cue broken record)I'm a Libertarian.
Hope I'm wrong.
I hear you. I understand your Libertarianism and I respect it. The Libertarian Party is an upstanding political party with reasonable positions on the issues.
That said, I'm not suggesting people become Democrats. I am suggesting that, unlike the Republican Party, the Democrats actually listen to people. So if we all call our representatives in Washington, and tell them to bring our troops home today, there's a significant chance that they will listen to us.
